The invitation arrives, the date is a month away, and your hair is not where you want it. A month is enough, as long as you spend it in the right order. This guide, from L’Amour Luxe in Kharghar, runs from four weeks out to the morning itself, and it is honest about what can wait.
Four weeks out: decide what is worth doing
Start with a consultation, not a booking. Your hair is read dry and standing, and you leave with a written quotation, so you know what each step involves before you commit to any of it.
Then answer one question: what do you want on the day? Shine, a shape that holds, a colour that photographs well, or simply less frizz. The answer decides which of the next steps you need, and it is often fewer than you expect.
Hair care after the monsoon
The rains leave a mark. Months of humidity and wet hair can leave the ends dry and a little rough, and a colour that looked rich in June can look flatter by October.
A trim takes off the roughest ends. A hair spa adds conditioning and softness, and what a hair spa is actually for is worth reading before you book one. Neither mends a split end. They make the hair behave for the day.
Three weeks out: colour, and how early to book it
Colour is the step that most needs time. A global colour or a toning is usually a single visit. Highlights and balayage on dark hair can take more than one, because dark hair shows warmth before it shows anything paler.
Book three weeks ahead and you have room for a second sitting if the first lands warmer than you wanted. Book the week before and you do not. The difference between the two techniques is set out in balayage or highlights, and the colour work itself is on the hair colour page.
Two weeks out: smoothing, if you want it
Keratin, hair botox and nanoplastia give a sleek finish that lasts for months, and the first few days after one come with aftercare rules. That is why it belongs two weeks out, not the day before the event.
If your hair has been lightened recently, say so. A strand test comes first wherever there is doubt, and sometimes the honest answer is to wait. Choosing between the three is covered in its own guide, and the hair treatment page lists what is on the carte.
One week out: the cut, and then keep it simple
Cut last, once colour and smoothing are done, because both change how hair falls. A trim a week ahead gives the shape a few days to settle, so it does not look freshly cut on the day. Women’s cuts and styling are on the women’s haircut page, and men’s cuts and beards are on the men’s haircut page.
After that, do very little. Wash as you normally do. Do not try a new product, and do not colour at home. The last week is for leaving your hair alone.
The day itself: saree draping and occasion styling
The Occasion menu covers saree draping, pre-pleating, where the folds are set in advance, and advanced occasion make-up. If you want any of them, book the slot when you book the rest, so the whole morning is planned together.
Bring the outfit, or a photograph of it. The neckline and the blouse decide whether the hair should sit up, down or to one side, and that is far easier to settle with the fabric in front of you.
When you do not need any of this
If your hair is in good shape, a trim and a blow dry is a perfectly good festive plan. A festival does not call for a transformation, and nobody will mark you down for looking like yourself.
If your hair is already fragile from recent lightening, skip the smoothing. Ask for a conditioning treatment and a gentle trim instead, and save the bigger step for after the festival.

What people ask before they book
How early should I book hair colour in Kharghar before Diwali?
About three weeks ahead. That leaves room for a second sitting if highlights or balayage on dark hair land warmer than you wanted.
Is it too late for a smoothing treatment a week before Diwali?
It is possible but tight. A smoothing treatment comes with aftercare for the first few days, and a strand test where there is doubt, so two weeks out is kinder to your hair and your diary.
When should I get a haircut before a festival?
About a week before. The shape settles in a few days, and it will not look freshly cut on the day. Do the cut after any colour or smoothing, since both change how hair falls.
What helps hair after the monsoon?
A trim to take off dry ends and a hair spa for conditioning are the usual steps. They improve how hair feels and behaves, but they do not repair a split end.
Can I book saree draping at the salon?
Yes. Saree draping, pre-pleating and advanced occasion make-up are on the carte. Book them together with your hair so the morning is planned as one appointment.
Is the consultation before a festival free?
Yes. It is free and does not commit you to booking anything, so you can take the written quotation home and decide in your own time.
